The Neptune Veterans Memorial Park Planning Committee is hosting a fund-raiser to help with funding for ongoing maintenance at the park and to add other amenities.
The fund-raiser is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 7 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the American Legion Post on Gully Road and is called “A Night t the USO.”
Bernadette Sherman, Gold Star Mother, and chair of the Veterans Memorial Park Planning Committee, invites local residents to attend for a “night to remember.”
“I am proud of the work that the Veterans Memorial Park Committee and the township have done on transforming a once contaminated piece of land into an area of beautiful open space honoring those from Neptune who gave their all to protect our freedom,” said. Township Committeeman Randy Bishop. “The fund-raiser on Feb. 7 will help us to continue to add other amenities and ongoing maintenance to this park making it truly a park owned by the community for those who gave so much for their community and their country.”
Music from the 1940s will be provided by DJ Fred. Light refreshments are being donated by Gourmet Kitchen and the three Neptune veteran posts. Soft drinks and refreshments are included in the ticket price. There is a cash bar. Committee members are selling advance tickets for $15. You can reserve tickets by calling Roberta at 732-988-5200 x 236 by January 31st. Tickets are $20 at the door.
Sherman said residents should be reminded that pavers purchased by April 1 will be in place by Memorial Day.
