Six years after launching its initial garden behind the Crawford House on Tinton Avenue, the Tinton Falls Community Gardens will welcome area residents to a second location this spring.
The new garden, located on Water Street in the historic district of Tinton Falls, will allow many more residents to join together in growing their own fresh organic produce. Members may range from beginners to experienced gardeners, and will tend their own plots as well as help to maintain the overall garden area.
“We’ve had wonderful success with the Crawford House location for the last several years, and there was demand for additional space,” said TFCG Chair Denise Catalano. “With funding and support from the borough, we were able to create a second garden. We encourage anyone who’s interested to come out and join us, and become part of this community-based effort.”
Development of the new garden will take place during several phases. The initial phase will include 12 plots, each measuring approximately 4’ x 16’, with additional plots being prepared and made available as needed. The gardening season at both locations runs from April 1 until November 15.
