Allenhurst property owners will see a half-cent increase in their municipal tax rate under the 2015 budget introduced at this week’s Borough Council meeting.
The budget, which increases the tax rate to 51 cents for every $100 of assessed valuation, will have a public hearing on May 12.
The total $4,893,776 budget, which has a $2,311,136 tax levy, or the amount to be raised through taxation, is up slightly from last year’s total $4,665,483, budget, which had a $2,289,368 tax levy.
Borough Clerk Lori L. Osborne said the half-a-cent increase is due to usual increases in expenses, such as utilities, salary and wages, and pensions.
“There is nothing out of the ordinary in this year’s budget,” she said.
