A one-vehicle accident on Route 33 in Neptune Sun., May 3, that involved a utility pole caused the interruption in Verizon FIOS cable service for many hours in the area, police said.
The vehicle of John Puryear, 39, of Brick struck a utility pole in the area of Memorial Drive at about 9:20 a.m., township police said. Puryear was charged with possession of crack cocaine — although he apparently was not under the influence of a drug at the time, according to police.
Puryear also was charged with traffic summonses, including reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane, police said.
Puryear was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
