Neptune Township Clerk Richard J. Cuttrell received a special award from the Municipal Clerk’s Association of New Jersey at this week’s Township Committee meeting.
Cuttrell, who was unaware the award was being presented, was given the association’s Spotlight Award for the month of April.
“The purpose of this award is to recognize MCANJ members who bring positive attention to the profession of being a clerk through engagement in civic activities or events outside of their normal duties and responsibilities in their home and/or work communities,” MCANJ President John M. Mitch wrote in a May 11 letter.
Former Neptune City Borough Clerk Joel Popkin nominated Cuttrell for the award and presented it to him at Monday’s meeting.
Popkin cited Cuttrell’s work with the Eagle Hook and Ladder Fire Company, with his local church, with the Neptune Red and Black Association, and his Tri-State Storm Watch website as examples of his community involvement.
“Please accept this token of appreciation as our way of saying thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for your work and home community,” Mitch said.
