Ocean Township resident Dave Gallina, a professional woodworker, knows how to celebrate Christmas in a big way; namely with a 15-foot-high wooden reindeer he made for his front lawn.
“I made it primarily for my girlfriend, my children, and my grandchildren. They love it but I want everyone to stop by and enjoy it. Many people stop and take pictures standing underneath it,” he said.
The massive reindeer is made from six sheets of plywood, took about 40 hours of work to construct, and a gallon of white paint to decorate. Gallina, who will be 70 in January, also has a large “Joy” sign in his front yard.
He lives at 509 Woodland Rd. in the West Allenhurst section of Ocean Township, off of Monmouth Road, just south of the Deal Country Club golf course.
“I had the Joy sign last year but this is the first year for the reindeer. I made it mainly for the kids,” he said.
Gallina is a professional woodworker who makes high-end wooden bowls and other custom wood products. He has a workshop in Forked River and a store in Tuckerton. You can see his work on Facebook under Woodworking by Dave.
