Prior to the meeting, Siciliano and Councilwoman Donna Schepiga accepted the $10,000 check from Gino Dellomo, a lifelong township resident and general manager for Shrewsbury Volkswagen in Tinton Falls.

Siciliano said a major sponsorship for township events is offered every year, adding that Dellomo “stepped up to the plate” this year to help his community.

He said contributions go to help offset costs for events, like various parades, the July 4 celebration, the Fall Fest, and other events.

Siciliano said the events cost from $30,000 to $50,000 to run every year and that the township is attempting to have most of it funded through private donations and sponsorships.

“We are trying to get to that and this kind of donation goes a long way to get to that. We are thankful for what our sponsors do and it helps make our township a better community,” he said.

He said other sponsorships are still available for interested parties. A major sponsor gets advertising in event programs, on banners, and is scrolled on electronic billboards throughout the township.
