Led by Morgan Bartlett and Taylor Bartlett, the Ocean Township High School girls basketball team vanquished Brick 37-16.
Morgan Bartlett scored 14 points and added 10 rebounds one assist and one steal for the Spartans (2-15) against the Green Dragons (1-16). Tyler Bartlett, who rained home three shots from beyond the arc, contributed 13 points, three rebounds and two steals.
Sanaa Finley added five rebounds, one assist and three steals. Katelyn Molloy added six points on two treys, picked off five rebounds, handed out three assists and made one steal.
Ocean sped to a 15-6 halftime lead, besting the Green Dragons 9-2 in the second quarter. Ocean went on a 13-4 run in the third quarter for a 28-10 lead.
Red Bank Regional 32, Ocean 15: Morgan Bartlett scored six points on two treys and added six rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Spartans (2-16) in their loss to the Bucs.
Tyler Bartlett finished the game with four rebounds and one blocked shot. Molloy contributed six points on two treys and added two rebounds and three steals.
Red Bank Catholic 45, Neptune 38: Desiree Allen scored a game-high 16 points for the Scarlet Fliers (13-3) in their loss to the Caseys.
Allen added seven rebounds, one assist and four steals. Rahmena Henderson contributed nine points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Brianna Love added eight points and four rebounds.
The Caseys outscored the Scarlet Fliers 18-11 in the fourth quarter to snap a 27-27 third-quarter tie.
Through her first 15 games of the season, Allen led the Scarlet Fliers in scoring, averaging 25.9 points per game. She paced the team in rebounds at 12.4 per game. She averaged 2.7 steals per game. Allen averaged 1.5 assists per game.
Love averaged 9.8 points per game for second on the team in scoring through her first 15 games of the season. She led the team in steals at 3.5 per game and averaged a team-high 2.7 assists per outing.
Neptune 59, Ocean 18: Allen tossed in 17 points and added nine rebounds, two assists and three steals, propelling the Scarlet Fliers (14-3) past the Spartans.
Henderson, who buried five of nine attempts from the field, added 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals. Love, who connected on two shots from downtown, added eight points, four rebounds, three assists and five steals.
Morgan Bartlett led Ocean with 10 points and added five rebounds and two assists. She buried eight of eight free throws.
Neptune opened the game with a 20-4 first-quarter assault. Neptune led 31-12 at halftime. A 20-2 barrage staked the Scarlet Fliers to a 51-12 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Neptune 64, Trenton Central 42: Paced by Allen, Love and Kaelyn Kimbrough, the Scarlet Fliers bested the Tornadoes.
Allen netted 20 points and added eight rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal. She connected on seven of 17 attempts from the field and netted six of 10 free throws.
Love hit for 11 points and added four rebounds, three assists and five steals. She buried six of six free throws.
Kimbrough scored 13 points and contributed 10 rebounds, including five off the offensive glass, and added two steals. She bucketed five of 11 shots from the floor, including her lone three-point attempt, and netted two of two free throws.
Rahmena Henderson added six points, three rebounds, two assists, one bloc and four steals. Precious Allah contributed five points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in 16:51 off the bench.
Neptune scored 23 second-chance points. It netted 20 points off turnovers. Trenton finished the game with five second-chance points and six points off turnovers.
The Scarlet Fliers sped from the Tornadoes with a 21-8 fourth-quarter scoring spree. The winners led 43-34 through three quarters.
In boys basketball:
Ocean 44, Barnegat 37: Scott Bradley scored 10 points and added six rebounds and one block, powering the Spartans (11-7) past the Bengals (5-13).
Darius Brown contributed nine points and picked off four rebounds. He bombed home two treys. Ru’Quan Dean added nine points, seven rebounds, one block and three steals. Mann Padron added four points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Ocean overcame a 27-26 third-quarter deficit with an 18-10 scoring spree in the final eight minutes of the game.
In ice hockey:
Jackson Liberty 3, Ocean 2: The Spartans (12-4-2) fell to the Lions (12-7-2), giving the winners the Class B title at the Jersey Shore Arena in Farmingdale.
The Lions took a 2-0 first-period lead on goals by Joe Granza and Leszek Gronowski with 4:48 and 1:49 remaining, respectively. Granza scored unassisted. Joe Low assisted on the second goal.
Ocean cut its deficit to 2-1 with 8:01 left in the second period when Henry Cioffi scored off a feed from Rob Feathers with the Spartans in a power play. Michael Steer tied the game at two with 12:33 to go in the third period on an unassisted goal. The Lions’ Joe D’Andrea netted the winning goal with 3:43 left in the game off an assist from Ryan Verile.
Ocean keeper Spencer Reu turned back 25 shots. The Lions’ Chris Stefanowicz rejected 19 shots.
Ocean 3, Central Regional 1: Feathers’ two goals and one assist led the Spartans (13-7-2) past the Golden Eagles (7-8-2) at the Jersey Shore Arena.
Cioffi added one goal and one assist. Winning keeper Brian Harlow turned back 22 shots. Cdentral’s Riley Jakubczak made 33 saves.
Feathers staked the Spartans to a 1-0 first-period lead off an assist from Tom Stuppi with 9:07 remaining. Central tied the game at one with 5:12 left when it was in the power play in which Michael Mania netted the goal.
Feathers netted the go-ahead goal with 1:59 left in the game off a feed from Cioffi. Feathers fed Cioffi for the final goal with 1:47 left.
In girls bowling:
Ocean 3, Asbury Park 0: Alexis Case rolled a 192-517 for the Spartans in their win over the Blue Bishops in Central A Division action at Shore Lanes in Asbury Park.
In boys bowling:
Ocean 3, Asbury Park 0: Logan Smith’s 217-616 paced the Spartans past the Blue Bishops in the Central A Division at Shore Lanes.
Luis Rodriguez led Asbury Park with a 204-511.
St. Rose 2, Neptune 1: Aedan Martin fired a 256-598 for the Scarlet Fliers in their loss to the Purple Roses in Central A action at Shore Lanes.
Tom Ciano led St. Rose with a 248-581.
