Municipal taxes in Bradley Beach will remain stable under the budget introduced by the Borough Council last month.

Borough Administrator Joyce Wilkins said although there was a slight increase in taxes, there was an increase in the total value of homes and property tax collected leaving a net zero increase for residents.

The total budget increased to approximately $9.3 million in 2016 from $9.1 million in 2015.

The total amount to be raised by taxes is $6,544,607.

Wilkins said funds for improvements to Sylvan Lake were increased by $40,000 to $48,000 to allow for a portion of the wall surrounding the lake that collapsed to be repaired.

She also noted that the county is paving Ocean Avenue starting in Bradley Beach and continuing along the shore to Sea Girt.

Wilkins said after the paving is complete, the borough will be responsible for relining the street and painting the numbers on parking spaces.

“The county will only be responsible for the center line,” she said.

Wilkins also said the borough will pay for the resealing of the north end parking lot.

She also said after the repaving, there will be a five year moratorium on opening the street, except in the event of an emergency.

Wilkins said the county is holding a pre-construction meeting Fri., April 8 and as Bradley Beach is the starting point, work should begin soon and be completed well before the summer season.

A copy of the budget can be found on the borough’s website at bradleybeachnj.gov.
