The Asbury Park Music Foundation will receive $50,000 in funding from Interfaith Neighbors to support the the Foundation’s youth and outdoor music programming initiatives over the next two years.
The Foundation will use some portion of these funds to meet the required matching fund component for the Foundation’s recently announced “Levitt AMP 2016 Asbury Park Summer Music Series.” Interfaith has requested that the balance of the funds be used to support a similar outdoor Summer Music series in 2017.
The summer concert series will be held in Springwood Park beginning in June.
Funding provided by Interfaith Neighbors will be drawn from corporate support for Interfaith’s “West Side Neighborhood Revitalization Plan” approved under the NJ Department of Community Affairs’ Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit (“NRTC”) Program. The New Jersey Natural Gas Company, PNC Bank and the Selective Insurance Companies are again providing funding through the NRTC Program to support Interfaith’s ongoing economic and affordable housing development initiatives on the West Side as well as several community-building and youth engagement programs.
Associate Executive Director of Interfaith Neighbors, Paul McEvily said, “We are so very pleased to be able to support the work of the Asbury Park Music Foundation and, in the process, provide to necessary matching funds for the Levitt AMP Asbury Park Music Series. The upcoming 2016 Summer Concert Series will be a terrific way to “introduce” this fantastic new public space on Springwood Avenue to both local community residents and to those music lovers who regularly flock to Asbury Park. We encourage everyone to mark their calendars for Monday evenings this summer and make the Springwood Park a treasured destination point for high quality musical performances, outdoor fun, and community-wide enjoyment on the City’s West Side.”
The 10-week summer music series is scheduled to take place every Monday evening between June 27 and August 29.
