A 59-year-old female Ocean Grove resident was pulled from the southern shore of Wesley Lake Wednesday afternoon (May 4) and taken to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment.
“She was somewhat hypothermic but alive,” Neptune police department spokesman Michael McGhee said.
He said a person on the Asbury Park side of the lake witnessed the accident, near the footbridge in the middle, of the lake and immediately called police.
McGhee said the woman is visually impaired and fell off the embankment into the lake. Police did not release here name.
He said three Good Samaritans then jumped into the lake and got the woman out before EMS arrived.
“CPR was given at some point and the woman was then transported to the hospital where she is now in stable condition,” he said.
EMS squads from both Neptune and Asbury Park responded to the scene around noon. More specific information about the incident was not available at press time.
