To celebrate and commemorate the launching of a free concert series in the Springwood Avenue Park in Asbury Park Mayor John Moor and the City Council cancelled the June 27 City Council Workshop Meeting, to encourage the public to go to the Springwood Avenue Park concert, which starts at 6 p.m.
“It’s the right thing to do, and it’s more important that we go to this concert,” Mayor Moor said. “Are the Mayor and City Council going to not attend the first concert on the west side since the 1970’s because of a Work Session meeting? It’s more important that we’re in that park, than to be having this meeting.”
All business scheduled for the Monday Work Session meeting will be moved to the Wednesday City Council Meeting on Wednesday, June 29.
The Asbury Park Music Foundation presents this series through a grant from the Levitt Foundation. The Asbury-based nonprofit is one of fifteen communities nation-wide to be awarded the $25,000 grant.
