The Surfrider Foundation, Jersey Shore Chapter, the House of Independents, Glide Surf Co. and Penguin Press present An Evening With Bill Finnegan, at the House of Independents in Asbury Park Thurs., Sept. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. for a reading and live interview. The event is free and doors open at 6 p.m.
William Finnegan, the author of several books and staff writer for the New Yorker, released “Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life” published by Penguin Books in 2015 to critical acclaim. The book won a Pulitzer Prize in 2016 and is now out in paperback which brings the author to the Jersey Shore for the first time.
The Surfrider Foundation, Jersey Shore Chapter and Glide Surf Co. helped organize the event at the House of Independents. Glide sells the book at the surf shop and the Surfrider will share their message of protecting oceans, waves, and beaches in the spirit of the book’s subject.
The author will have personal slides from his surfing journeys around the world and there will also be a live interview conducted by Tyler Bruer of SMASH Surf. The event is free but attendees are encouraged to buy the book and join or renew their membership in the Surfrider Foundation.
