Carafa and Bia have served together with the Allenhurst Police Department since 2012.

Bia is a 6-year-old German Shepherd certified in patrol duties and narcotics. She received her vest in 2014 through Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. as a Christmas Sponsorship from family and friends.

Her vest award was the first in the state of New Jersey for Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The 2017 Calendars are available online for $15 plus shipping at www.vik9s.org or by mail by calling 508-824-6978.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will provide bullet and stab protective vests for K9s who are now working without the lifesaving equipment.

All goods and services for the calendar were donated by sponsors, photographers and participating law enforcement agencies.

The calendar shows a great variety: different law enforcement departments, police dog breeds, and general activities of K9 teams.
