Tinton Falls children are gearing up for their annual Halloween party on Sat., Oct, 29 at the borough’s Sycamore Recreation Complex Park.
The popular event, run by the Tinton Falls Recreation Department, is for borough residents only, ages one through ten-years-old. According to Sherri Eisele, Tinton Falls Recreation Superintendent, the event has been “provided by the town for many years” and is a holiday tradition for many residents.
“We average hundreds of children each year and we look forward to seeing all the wonderful costumes as well as the children smiling and enjoying themselves during this event,” she said. “Over the years there have been many creative costumes, such as a lobster in the pot; the dad dressed as a chief with the child in the pot dressed as a lobster. There have been many princesses, scary creatures, funny creatures, and storybook-themed characters”.
There will be a costume contest for various age groups and first and second prizes will be awarded in the categories of Spookiest, Comical, Most Original, Most Charming, Best Character and Judge’s Choice. In addition, there will be a trackless train and DJ entertainment at the event. Children will also have the chance to participate in various games and win candy and prizes. High school students from Monmouth Regional will be on hand to assist with the party which will run from 3:30pm to 6pm.
In other recreation news, two borough-wide events for the next several months include the Recreation Basketball league and the American Sign Language fall class. The basketball league practice sessions begin in mid-week December. Games will start in January and be held on Friday evenings and Saturdays. The American Sign language introductory class, offered by Deaf Instructor Diana Meade in conjunction with Tinton Falls Recreation, runs Mondays, November 14th through December 5th. The class will be held at Tinton Falls Boro Hall from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. The cost is $40.00 per student.
