The VFW Post 1333, located on Lake Avenue in Asbury Park is currently under contract to be sold.
Tenants, who previously rented space at the historic building, were told in the spring to vacate the premises by September.
Junior Vice Commander Joseph Williams said VFW still has its offices in the building and holds meetings there.
Williams was also a member of the real estate committee, and said the buyer of the building is Douglas Jamal, of Douglas Development Company Corporation, located in Washington, D.C.
“He’s a great patriot; they have done beautiful things with restoration of older buildings,” Williams said.
Williams also said Jamal has a home in the shore area and is very familiar with Asbury Park.
Williams said the property will most likely close in early 2017 because the buyer said he needed additional time to coordinate some aspects of the sale.
Williams is also a leader of the Catholic War Veterans Post 714 out of Our Lady Mount Carmel.
