The group is also is seeking drivers to delivery food baskets to residents on Sun., Nov. 20 beginning at 10 a.m.

Last year, Ocean residents and businesses donated food to fill baskets for 170 families.

The baskets contained everything needed for a Thanksgiving meal, along with other food and necessities. The need for food is expected to be higher this year.

Donors are asked to give a complete box of food for a family of four to six people, or individual food items such as stuffing, gravy, canned fruits and vegetables, soup, cereal, pasta and sauces, crackers, peanut butter and jelly.

Monetary donations are also needed for the purchase of supermarket gift cards for turkeys and other perishable items, as well as for emergency assistance in the months to follow.

Checks should be made to the Community Hope Fund.

Those volunteering to deliver the baskets on Sun., Nov. 20 will meet at the Oakhurst Fire Department’s meeting room before 10 a.m.
Food and monetary donations can be dropped off at the Township of Ocean Department of Human Services, 601 Deal Road.

For more information and to volunteer, please call 732-531-2600 or email Jennifer Appio, jappio@oceantwp.org.
