Life-long Neptune resident and community volunteer Lou Rochelle Sr. was recognized at Monday’s Township Committee meeting.
“Rochelle is always willing to volunteer his time and talents whenever needed and is a revered figure in the Neptune emergency responder and youth sports communities,” Mayor Kevin McMillan said reading a special proclamation.
The Neptune Lions Club recently held a “Night for Sight Dinner Dance” at which time Rochelle was honored for his service to the Neptune community. He is a life-long resident and a long-time member of both the Hamilton and Shark River Hills First Aid Squads.
“His knowledge and expertise as an emergency medical responder led to a 15-year career as a Trauma Technician at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and eight years as a Medical Assistant at the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office,” the resolution said.
A three-sport letterman at Neptune High School, Rochelle shared his athletic knowledge by serving as a softball, football and baseball coach with various youth sports organizations.
