Ocean Police Charge 4 in Connection with Armed Robbery

Ocean Township police have charged four men in connection with an armed robbery in the 1400 block of Maple Avenue Nov. 27.
Police said at approximately 3:04 am the police were called to the location in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred. Officer Brendan Bernhard arrived on the scene and located two 17- year-old male victims who reported being robbed at gunpoint by four other male subjects. One of the male victims had his sneakers and a cellular phone taken during the robbery. The Ocean Township Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, Deal Police Department and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department K9 were called in to assist with the search for the three male subjects.
Further investigation led police to a residence on Monmouth Road in Oakhurst where four male subjects were located. Two of the four later identified as Edwin Rodriguez, 19, of Oakhurst and Raquan Dean, 18, of Oakhurst were arrested and charged with the robbery. The other two were identified as Mark Santos, 19, of Oakhurst and Paul Ashton, 24, of Oakhurst. Both were arrested and charged for Child Endangerment, Being under the influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Obstructing the initial robbery investigation.
In addition, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency responded to the residence as occupants were engaging in drug activity while two juveniles, ages three and four were in the residence. During the investigation a dog inside the house attacked Sergeant Martin causing an injury. Martin was taken to the hospital for treatment and was released. Animal Control also responded to the scene and took temporary custody of the dogs. A 1998 Toyota Corolla was seized pending civil forfeiture proceedings as it was used in a commission of a crime. The following males were transported to the station without further incident and their charges were as follows. Bail set by Superior Court Judge Ronald Reisner.

Ruquan Dean: Robbery, Child endangerment, Obstruction and Under the Influenceof a Controlled Dangerous Substance – Bail set at $130,000 – Transported to the County Jail
Mark Santos: Child Endangerment, Obstruction and Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, he was released on a summons.
Paul Ashton: Child Endangerment, Obstruction and Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, he was released on a summons.
Currently wanted in reference to the robbery are Marcus Blackmon – First Photo
