The event is Fri., March 24 at the VFW on Lake Avenue.

The evening will be a celebration of the musical career of Gladstone Trott who was raised in Asbury Park and began playing music when he was six years old.

According to Tom Gilmour, of the APMF, Gladstone’s musical background includes playing piano, clarinet, flute, sax and trumpet as well as singing and conducting. Gladstone has been hospitalized since December. Fund from the event will help his family with medical expenses.

“Gladstone’s musical contributions have been many. He became the organist at St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Asbury Park at the age of 13 and continued in that role for 45 years,” Gilmour said.

Gladstone has played and recorded for numerous jazz bands over the years, played regularly at the Breakers Hotel in Spring Lake and most recently played with the Lakewood Jazz Orchestra.

The show starts at 8 pm with doors opening at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Trott family.

Checks can be made to the Asbury Park Music Foundation and mailed to APMF, 375 Park Avenue, Freehold, 07728.

Donations can also be made at here.
