Neptune City continues to “Paint the Town Pink” to fight breast cancer.
The borough has scheduled a number of events in association with Meridian Health as a reminder to women to get annual mammograms.
The month-long campaign started a bit early with an April 30 bocce tournament at Memorial Park.
Next up is a corn hole tournament Fri., May 12 at the Community Center.
The first game starts at 5 p.m. and the event ends at approximately 10 p.m.
There is a $40 entry fee per two-person team.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
To enter, e-mail the names of both players and a team name to Mary Zajack at mezajack@aol.com or Chickie Arnone at chickiear@aol.com. Payments can be made the night of the event by cash or check. Checks should be made payable to Meridian Health Affiliate Foundation.
A paint party will take place at the Neptune City fire house on Fri., May 19. Admission is $40 per person.
A happy hour begins at 6 p.m. and painting starts at 7 p.m.
T-shirts, magnets and light bulbs to benefit the drive can be purchased at Borough Hall.
For the last nine years, Meridian has sponsored Paint the Town Pink to encourage women 40 and older to have mammograms yearly. The fundraising effort helps enable underserved women in the community to obtain the service.
