Be Greek for a day at the Jersey Shore Greek Festival at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean Township June 23 to June 25.
This fifth annual event features traditional Greek food, music, dancing, culture and hospitality.
It takes place from Fri., June 23 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Sat., June 24 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sun. June 25 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Food choices will include moussaka, pastichio, handmade pastries such as baklava and galatombouriko. Beer and wine will also be served.
The festival will take place rain or shine.
The award winning church dance troupe in authentic costumes will perform under a tent. Audience members will be invited to join in.
A boutique featuring Greek jewelry, icons, and Greek specialty items will be on site at the festival, along with a Kafenion serving Greek coffee and desserts.
Tours of the Byzantine-style church, will be offered by members of the community and photos of previous festivals will be on display.
The weekend will culminate with the drawing of the Mega 50/50 raffle where 12 winners can win up to $10,000. Tickets are $20 and only 2,500 tickets will be sold.
Admission is $2 with children under 6 admitted free.
