Lake clean ups by groups of volunteers at three Asbury Park lakes yielded many surprises along with over 30 large garbage bags of trash.
Friends and Citizens of Wesley Lake member Barbara Lesinski volunteered along with over 35 others to wade into the lake and remove items that do not belong there.
Some of the items, she said, included six traffic cones, two blue oil drums that the city had used as garbage cans, one plastic garbage can, four bicycles, on old crutch and a guitar.
“We also picked ups 30 bags of trash and plastics,” she said.
There was also a clean up at Deal Lake and Sunset Lake and student volunteers helped pick up garbage at both lakes, Lesinski said.
Lesinski, whose sister, Teresa “Tee” Lesinski is a member of the Wesley Lake Commission, said the group conducts a clean up twice a year at the lake.
“We try to keep it clean,” she said.
Lesinski said the Department of Public Works picked up all the debris for disposal.
