Michael Badger has been selected as the new president of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association. He replaces outgoing president Dale Whilden.
“I am delighted and humbled that the trustees have asked me to serve as the Camp Meeting’s new President,” Badge said.
Badger was appointed on Oct. 21. He has served on the Board of Trustees for 24 years and is a long-time resident of Ocean Grove.
And the Camp Meeting Association welcomes his leadership.
“Badger has been a valuable and vital asset, and blessing, to the Camp Meeting Association throughout his time as a trustee,” Whilden said. “Having served on every major committee, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in many facets of the organization.”
Badger outlined his vision for the future of the OCGMA.
“I will work to fulfill the vision of the OGCMA to be a seaside community where all generations can know and grow in Jesus, and will form a team to plan for the celebration in 2019 of Ocean Grove’s 150th anniversary. My goal is to spread the word that God’s Square Mile is a jewel on the New Jersey coast that welcomes everyone for physical relaxation and spiritual rejuvenation,” he said.
“To help attain our vision, the Camp Meeting Association seeks to provide the best beachfront environment. The Camp Meeting looks forward to upgrading its boardwalk for the benefit of the entire community,” he said.
On Saturday, Oct 21, the OGCMA trustees approved a plan to begin replacing the boardwalk from the Boardwalk Pavilion to Seaview Avenue.
Badger has lived in Ocean Grove with his wife, Nancy, and their five children since 1990. He graduated from Neptune High School in 1985 and from Rutgers University’s College of Engineering in 1989. He received an MBA from Monmouth College in 1992; a Master of Arts in Theology from Fordham University in 1997.
He currently works as an engineer for the U.S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.
