Ocean Grove has been designated as the greatest neighborhood in New Jersey in 2017 by a national planning association and township officials thanked the people and organizations who made it possible on Nov. 9.
“These groups have all worked hard and have done a great job,” Mayor Brantley said.
More than a dozen groups and organizations in Ocean Grove were recognized with special proclamations at the last Township Committee meeting.
Ocean Grove won the Best Neighborhood award this year under the Great Places In New Jersey program, sponsored by the New Jersey Division of American Planning Association. Best downtown., public space and great street awards are also presented. The awards are given based on a very broad range of qualifications but with each nominee needing “a definable sense.”
“Thank you” were the two words that are best said to recognize the groups and organizations, Brantley said.
“This is a very impressive award. We know this is a great community and the jewel of the Jersey Shore. This is not the end of a journey but rather another beginning. It will keep Ocean Grove special and thriving,” he said.
Those Ocean Grove groups recognized are the Chamber of Commerce, Historic Preservation Commission, Historical Society, Camp Meeting Association, Homeowners Association, Ocean Grove United, Beautification Project, Citizens Patrol, St. Paul’s Church, Ladies Auxiliary, Fire Department, and the Wesley Lake and Fletcher Lake commissions
