Repollet was named superintendent four years ago and was chosen by Governor Philip Murphy to head the state’s eduction department.

“It is with great joy, excitement and humility that I assume the role of Acting Superintendent of the Asbury Park School District. Ours is one that has been defined as the most rapidly improving district in the nation by Ed Week in November 2016. This distinction represents the collective work of the entire APSD Family and should not be taken lightly,” Gray said in a letter to staff members.

Gray, former director of curriculum and instruction, pledged to continue the adding to the recent gains in the district and to honor Repollet’s mission of Building a Brighter Future.

“To do this, I will maintain the “Disrupted Status Quo” and implore you to embrace all initiatives,” she said. “Finally, I want to congratulate Dr. Lamont Repollet for his four years of exemplary leadership and I know that he will serve the New Jersey Department of Education well.”
