coaster-news-200-newAsbury Park Chamber of Commerce President Jennifer Schulman announced this week that Councilwoman Eileen Chapman will receive the Chamber’s 2018 President’s Choice Award.

Chapman will be presented with the award on May 11th at the APCC’s signature gala, The Carousel Awards.

“Having the honor of choosing the recipient of The President’s Choice Award is a labor of love that I take to heart. Eileen is actually the person who brought me into the organization. Over the years, we’ve all admired her unwavering commitment to our beautiful city by the sea.” Schulman said,

“This year’s theme ‘Asbury Forever’ gives a nod to iconic Asbury as well as its endurance for the future. With Eileen having once been the General Manager of The Stone Pony and currently the Director of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for Arts at Monmouth University, she seemed like a natural fit.”

In addition to her work with the Stone Pony and her position with Monmouth University, Chapman serves on the boards of The AP Music Foundation, the AP Historical Society, Asbury Angels, the AP Recreation Committee, and Quality of Life Commission the Commissions of Wesley Lake and Sunset Lake and the advisory board of the Grammy Museum Experience.

“When Jen shared her choice with me, I was elated,” said Chamber Director Sylvia Sylvia. “Eileen is one of the most dynamic and genuinely altruistic people I know.  I can’t remember a single time that she hasn’t asked how she can help, even before she has a chance to say hello.”

The annual Carousel Gala is highlights businesses, business people and pillars of the community.  Each year the Chamber’s Selection Committee pours over the names of the many organizations and people who have helped Asbury Park to become the magnificent community it is known to be.

Earlier this month, the Committee announced this year’s recipients, which includes: The Asbury Hotel, Freeholder Tom Arnone, Mayor John Moor, Fire Commissioner Garrett M. Giberson, restaurateur, Jennifer Lampert and educator, Genise Hughes.

“Having the gala for the first time ever at Convention Hall, coupled with this line up of amazing honorees, is generating an overwhelming amount of excitement already,” ” Schulman said. “It’s going to be a night to remember. Like our tagline says, we just #LoveAsbury!”
