A fundraiser is planned March 25 at the Headliner in Neptune for a member of the Neptune City Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary who has been diagnosed with brain cancer.
Sheila Gironda Maher, who grew up in Allenhurst and now lives in Neptune, was diagnosed on Oct. 31.
After experiencing a headache and a change in her vision Maher was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where she learned she had glioblastoma. She underwent brain surgery and most of the tumor was removed. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation and is not able to drive or return to work.
Organizers of the fundraiser are hoping to raise money to offset the growing medical expenses and lost income.
The fundraiser runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Tickets are $20 per person and include food and entertainment provided by Chik-a-Boom and Three Sheets to the Wind.
Children are welcome and those 21 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For tickets contact Tammy at 908.309.38430, ttammsb3@msn.com or Tracy at 732.804.3322, trayce18@aol.com.
