If it’s spring then it’s Pugapalooza time at The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park on the weekend of May 5.
This year marks the 5th Anniversary of Pugapalooza. The brain child of Founder Connie Breech she came up with the idea while sitting at The Wonder Bar with main stay Debbie Delisa.
The event started as a one day fundraiser for pugs and pug mixes in need and ballooned into a weekend long event. The proceeds will benefit PugSquad.org (a non-profit group) which helps tri-state pugs in need and also other Pug Rescues throughout the United States.
This is the third year the event has been held for a whole weekend. The Empress Hotel will again be the host hotel with help from The Berkeley Carteret and The Asbury Hotel. The first night features a Meet n Great at Dark City Brewery 1001 Main Street from 5-8 pm. The suggested donation is $5 and features special treats and giveaways.
The Asbury Dawg food truck will also be outside. This venue is dog friendly and kid friendly. The second day is the main event at The Wonder Bar. The event runs 1 to 5 p.m. and suggested donation is $10. It will feature vendors, music and gift baskets.
The group will also be celebrating Cinco De Mayo.
On Sun., May 6 it will be a Pug Brunch for $15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 1 p.m. there will be the “Pink You Pug Out” Promenade on the Fifth Avenue Boardwalk that will feature prizes for the “Pinkest” Pug, Pug Couple and Pug Grumble.
