The Trinity Choir School, affiliated with Trinity Church in Asbury Park, is in transition to become an independent, non-profit community based school called the Choir School of Asbury Park.
The church’s musical director, Diane Caruso, is also director of the choir school.
During the transition the choir school is using both names as it works toward its official non profit status.
The official kick off for the new school and name will be when it holds choir camp June 21 to July 3.
The choir, which currently has 12 children enrolled, is growing, Caruso said.
Students from grades second to 12 are eligible to join. Members, who attend the summer camp are scheduled to perform at Springwood Park on July 2 as part of the summer music series.
Choir members, in the past, traveled to Great Britain and completed a residency at Guilford Cathedral in England.
The benefit concert is being held Sat., April 14 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Church by the Azure Quartet, made up of students from a special chamber honors program at Juilliard.
Ocean Township resident Brendan Zak, whose family members are parishioners at Trinity Church belongs to the quartet.
There is no fee to attend but free will offerings will be collected.
The program includes Mozart, String Quartet No. 19; Shostakovich, String Quartet No. 8 and Ravel, String Quartet in F.
