Simko’s Grill will be leaving its old Brielle location and moving to the former Yvonne’s restaurant in Neptune on Route 35, near the Headliner.
After 14 years in Brielle, restaurant owner Mike Simko said the restaurant there will close on June 4 and that he hopes to open the new restaurant, still to be called Simko’s Grill, in Neptune within a week after that. The restaurant serves primarily traditional American fare, including seafood, steaks, pastas and burgers.
“I liked the location of the new restaurant. That area is an upcoming area and a bubbling area right now,” he said.
Simko said that he has gutted the old Yvonne’s dining area and the restaurant will now have two step-up dining rooms that seat 50 each, tables and booths for 24 patrons, a 30-seat bar with 10 high-top tables, and a 40-seat outdoor deck.
The restaurant will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, with early dinners served for $13.95 on Monday through Fridays. Sunday breakfast buffets, with omelet and waffle stations, will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and cost $14.95.
“This has all worked for us in Brielle. In 14 years we were very successful in Brielle with more than 300 parties a year. I am hoping to draw old and new customers to the new restaurant,” he said.
Simko said his head chef, who has been with him for 14 years, and his two assistant chefs are also making the transition to the new restaurant. One chef is a pastry chef and all pastries are made on the premise.
Simko also owned Simko’s Pub in Sayreville for 15 years. He said the Brielle property is very valuable and he believes townhouses will probably be built there one day.
