Bradley Beach is gearing up for its annual Memorial Day festivities which this year has have been expanded to include Fri., May 25 through Sun., May 27 on the promenade on Ocean Avenue.
Eat your way through a mile-long expanse of tempting food, browse a wide array of craft vendors, and enjoy plenty of activities for the kids and lively entertainment at the gazebo. The perennial event, a benefit for the Bradley Beach First Aid Squad, promises something to satisfy every taste with fun for all ages.
Visitors will be tempted by the wide array of foods offered along the Promenade from local restaurants, returning favorites and newcomers. Enjoy a wide selection of seafood options including mouth-watering lobster rolls, crab cakes, clam strips and oysters from Jake’s of Belmar and Star of the Sea seafood, among others. Meat lovers will delight in Joe Smoke BBQ, along with the ever-popular steak or sausage sandwiches.
Those attending are invited to host their own empanada showdown with a sampling of Puerto Rican, Colombian or Venezuelan style from the Empanada Guy, El Lechon de Negron, Empanada Monster and Sweetpepper’s of Bradley Beach. Round out the international menu with Greek and Italian specialties and Mexican tamales. There are plenty of vegan and gluten offerings as well.
The younger set will have fun at the Kiddie Corner at the north end of the promenade, featuring rides and bounce houses, face painters and special activities. Try your luck and win a prize at Bradley Beach First Aid Squad’s carnival game row. Enjoy live entertainment all three days. The Memorial Day Parade steps off at the south end of Ocean Avenue at 10 a.m. May 26. The mile-long parade features local high school bands, pipe and drum groups and a memorial service at the flagpoles.
