Boardwalk strollers that get to the very northern end of Ocean Gove will be greeted by a new flower/shrub garden this summer.
“It is for pure enjoyment for the community. People walking down the boardwalk can sit and enjoy the scenery and the garden.,” Neptune Environmental and Shade Tree Commission Secretary Chris Bedrosian said.
A group of volunteers planted the garden, at the very eastern end of Wesley Lake right by the boardwalk, on May 12.
The garden is on township owned-land and Bedrosian said the idea of the garden has been in the works for a few years and that the commission was now able to address it.
The garden was funded through a preservation fund in the commission. The commission brought in mulch, gravel and other necessities to create the garden and a water supply has been installed. Benches are also planned for the site.
“It will be maintained on an annual basis,” Bedrosian said.
