July is Family Month at William F. Larkin Golf Course at Colonial Terrace, Ocean’s beautiful municipal golf course conveniently located in Wanamassa.
“Golf is a great sport for families to enjoy together,” said Judi Johnson, recreation director for the Township of Ocean. “Our nine-hole community course is a wonderful place for golfers of all ages. That’s why we offer a variety of programs to help youth and adults enjoy, learn and improve their game.”
To encourage families to golf together, kids golf free all month when accompanied by a paying adult. PGA Pro Dale Shankland will present a free one-hour Family Golf Clinic on Sunday, July 8 at 1 p.m. Adults will play alongside their children and participate in games and putting contests.
On Sunday, July 15, golfers age 7-17 are invited to pair up with an adult for the 2018 Adult/Child 9-Hole Tournament. Teams can register at the clubhouse or online at ColonialTerraceGolf.com.
The 2018 Junior Tour kicks off on Thursday, July 12 for golfers age 4-17. The tour consists of four events held on Thursdays through August 2. Golfers may play in as many events on the tour as they choose, but must participate in at least one July tournament to compete in the Junior Championship on August 2. Awards are given to the top three players in each age category for each tournament. Register at the clubhouse or visit the website for more information.
