On Thurs., July 26 at 5 p.m. the Stephen Crane House in Asbury Park will be presenting the second in its eighth summer series of filmed operas.
Fifty years ago, Herbert Von Karajan presented Pietro Mascagni’s one-act opera “Cavalleria Rusticana,” filmed in Sicily. A half century ago, the New York Post said of the production: “Magnificently sung, dramatically acted…the passion of Sicily fanned into a bonfire by one of the world’s most brilliant conductors.”
That will be the main presentation for “A Bite at the Opera.” There will also be a musical surprise or two for those attending, As usual, there is no charge for admission, but any and all donations by check or in cash will go to the Asbury Park Little League.
