Patriotism Week (Sept. 10-16) was recognized with a special proclamation by the Neptune Township Committee this week.
“During this event, we urge all citizens to join with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in expressing gratitude for the privilege of American Citizenship with appropriate celebrations and observances,” read the proclamation, signed by Mayor Nicholas Williams.
Asbury Park/Wall Elks Lodge 128 Chairperson Roberta Lerner read the proclamation to the public.
It states that the “Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a Patriotic Order that promotes ideals that the citizens of this nation live in freedom, won through the great sacrifices and many tribulations which have provided the foundation for a free, prosperous and independent life.”
