The Asbury Park Music Foundation is one of five finalists in the running to receive a $112,000 grant from Impact 100 Jersey Coast.

Impact 100 Jersey Coast is a local women’s philanthropic movement which provides high impact, transformational grants of at least $100,000 each to Monmouth County nonprofits.

The group recently announced its five 2018 finalists which in addition to APMF in the Arts and Culture category include: American Littoral Society (Environment, Parks & Recreation),  Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (Health & Wellness), CFC Loud N Clear (Children and Families), and Family Resource Associates (Education).

Three of these five inspiring organizations will be selected by the entire Impact membership of 336 women to receive a grant of $112,000 each at Impact 100 Jersey Coast’s Annual Membership Meeting on Tues., November 27.

Since its inception in 2015, Impact 100 Jersey Coast has provided grants totaling $727,000 in support of local nonprofit organizations in Monmouth County.

“This has been a fabulous year for Impact 100 Jersey Coast,” said Deirdre Spiropoulos, President and Co-Founder. “The $336,000 donated by individual women is a direct reflection of their determination to make changes in our community by coming together to make a positive, long lasting impact with their philanthropic dollars. This truly is their accomplishment.”

Spiropoulos said the selection process was humbling and inspiring and included in-depth reviews of financials and in person site visits.

“Focus Area Committee (FAC) members had to make the difficult decision of choosing the five finalists. It is hard to put into words how much effort and thought has gone into this decision, and we are truly grateful to our FAC members for their time and commitment,” said Rowena Crawford-Phillips, Grants Chair.

The next step is Meet the Finalists on Nov. 27 when each of the five finalists will present a compelling 6-minute presentation to Impact 100 members.

The highlight of this year’s Annual Membership Meeting is guest speaker and Impact 100 founder Wendy Steele of Cincinnati.

Steele founded Impact 100 in Cincinnati in 2001 to remove the traditional barriers to giving and provide a unique, collaborative experience for women donors. Steele shared her idea with other philanthropic women in the Cincinnati community and with their support, she launched and led the first Impact 100 group bringing six-figure transformational grants to their community across five focus areas: Culture, Education, Environment, Family, and Health and Wellness.

By 2003, the national media had learned about this innovation and the Impact 100 model began to be replicated around the country and overseas. By the end of 2017, Impact 100 organizations had given away more than $55 MILLION to people in need and it continues to go from strength to strength. This will be Impact’s third Annual Meeting. In its inaugural year, the organization grew from a founding group of 11 local women to 145, each contributing $1000.

The 2016 grant of $145,000 was awarded to 180 Turning Lives Around. In 2017, Impact was able to raise $246,000 and awarded two grants of $123,000 each to Covenant House NJ and The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County.

As membership grows, the organization will be able to make additional grants, the amounts driven by the number of members. Women may join now for the 2019 membership cycle, which ends March 15, 2019. Current members will be organizing informal gatherings throughout Monmouth County.
