Former Asbury Park Mayor Ed Johnson was recently honored in Bristol, England at the General Meeting of the Global Parliament of Mayors, along with two other mayors.
Johnson along with Patricia de Lille, former mayor of Cape Town, South Africa and Jozias van Aartsen, former mayor of The Hague and Amsterdam, the Netherlands were the first to be named Honorary Members of the GPM at its third annual meeting.
Mayor de Lille, one of the founding mayors of the GPM, was honored for her inspirational leadership as GPM Chair. Mayor van Aartsen chaired the GPM from its Inaugural Convening in September 2016 until he stepped down as mayor of The Hague in March 2017.
As interim mayor of Amsterdam van Aartsen remained a true ambassador of the GPM.
Johnson was honored for his consistent and outstanding support to GPM from its start in 2016, and his active contribution in GPM events.
“It was a quite an honor and I look forward to my continued work with GPM and its membership of Mayors to “empower cities as the drivers of change,” Johnson said.
