Asbury Park Mayor John Moor said the city received correspondence from iStar, the city’s beachfront developer, but he would not divulge the contents due to potential litigation.
Moor said the city responded this week to Brian Cheripka of iStar asking him to meet with the city “as soon as possible to resolve this.”
The city voted last week to halt construction on the north end of the boardwalk where iStar is planning a meandering boardwalk. The company has already ripped up sections of the boardwalk in that area, much to the dismay of many residents. The developer is planning to install dunes and benches in the area. The city halted the work after 400 showed up at the City Council meeting objecting to the beachfront plan.
