On Sun., March 10 Asbury Park will host its 6th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and with parade day almost here, the committee is putting the finishing touches on this spectacular event.

The Rotary Club of Asbury Park will be the official Grand Marshal of this year’s Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Rotary Club of Asbury Park was established in April of 1919 and is celebrating 100 years of service to the people of Asbury Park and beyond.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade has become an annual tradition attracting over 10,000 people to the city last year. This year’s parade has over 60 entries including marching units, award-winning mummers and traditional pipe and drum bands, floats from some of your favorite organizations and establishments including the Stone Pony, Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten and Lakehouse Recording Studio and dozens of attractions that are unique to this parade. From traditional to the unusual the parade will feature everything that is exceptional about Asbury Park.

Their dedication to the community started immediately, with their first goal achieved by getting the Board of Freeholders to delay work on Main Street until after the 1919 summer season and has grown to be involved with a variety of local and international projects each year to better our communities.

Along with the ever-popular Polar Plunge, the Rotary collected more than 300 coats for Jersey Shore Rescue Mission, worked with Allaire Farm’s Community Food project, helped raise awareness to end the opioid crisis and helped fill the pantries of Fulfill foodbanks. The members of the Rotary work endlessly to help improve lives wherever needed. For more information on the Asbury Park Rotary Foundation please visit: aprotaryfoundation.org  and follow them on Facebook for updates and events.

On March 7 the parade committee will be honoring the Asbury Park Rotary Club at the Grand Marshal dinner in the historic Convention Hall Grand Arcade with a fireworks display on the beach to follow. Tickets are $60 and will be available at the Stone Pony Box office and through Ticketmaster.com. Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade is funded solely through donations and local fundraisers. For a list of fundraising events visit the website.

NJ 101.5 radio’s Big Joe Henry will be broadcasting live on the morning of the parade. Open to the public, fans can join Joe at the Wonder Bar beginning at 9am for fun prizes.
In 2013 a small committee gathered to craft a parade that celebrates St. Patrick while acknowledging the diversity of the people and culture of Asbury Park.  Much thought and planning went into the original concept to make certain that it was all inclusive and unique to Asbury Park while still incorporating the most loved traditions of a good old-fashioned parade. Each year the AP St. Patrick’s Day Parade has donated to charitable organizations including AP Little League, The Center, AP Historical Society, Victims of the Orlando Shooting, AP FD Local 384 and AP Recreation.
