Off-site parking will be provided for Ocean Grove’s upcoming July 6 parade celebrating the historic districts 150th anniversary – but not for the night-time fireworks
Township Business Administrator Vito Gadaleta said this week that extra parking will be provided at the township’s Early Childhood Center and Midtown Community Elementary School, which are near Ocean Grove, west of the railroad tracks.
A shuttle bus will transport visitors in and out of Ocean Grove but not for the fireworks.
“There will not be shuttle service for the fireworks. People are on their own then,” Gadaleta said.
Ocean Grove organizations are paying for the shuttle bus drivers.
The parade on Sat., July 6 will be from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The fireworks display is scheduled to start at 9 p.m.
The popular Ocean Grove annual spring flea market will take place on Sat., June 1.
Ocean Grove, a well-known historic district noted for its Victorian architecture and Methodist religious significance, is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding in 1869, just after the Civil War. The property is still basically owned by the community’s founding Methodist Church under the control of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA). Except for the streets and other public rights-of-way, the community is still owned and controlled by the OGCMA – a private, not public, entity.
