Over the summer, the Stop and Shop of Neptune collected monetary donations from their shoppers through their “Food for Friends” campaign. These donations were recently passed along to the Bradley Food Pantry. Through the thoughtfulness of the management of Stop and Shop, and the generosity of those who shop at their Neptune store, the Pantry received a check for $4,691.81!
Stop and Shop routinely provides assistance to the Bradley Food Pantry. Every week, donations of meat, bread, and other bakery products are given to the Pantry. In addition boxes of holiday foods purchased by shoppers are donated to the Pantry; and the store has recently launched the Community Bag and Giving Tag program which also provides funds to the Pantry.
The Bradley Food Pantry is an entirely volunteer-run organization serving those in need throughout the mid-shore region, providing bags of groceries to over 700 families a month. On Nov. 22, the Pantry will give a turkey and all the trimmings to the 600 families who have registered for this distribution. This “Food for Friends” donation will provide needed funds to assist in the purchases needed to fulfill this need.
Linda Curtiss, director of the Bradley Food Pantry, said the Pantry exists through the generosity of its neighbors.
“We are especially grateful to the management of Stop and Shop for designating us as the recipient of these donations,” she said. “And we are so very thankful to every single person who gave during the summer “Food for Friends” campaign. We simply couldn’t do it without you.”
The Bradley Food Pantry is located at 605 Fourth Ave., Bradley Beach, adjacent to St. James Episcopal Church. Founded by a consortium of churches in 1982, the Pantry continues to be supported by St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic and West Grove Methodist and St. James Episcopal Churches.
