Whether you are looking for a sweet treat to bring to a loved one or a decadent dessert to share with your significant other, Neptune Library’s upcoming Valentine’s Day Bake Sale promises to be the perfect place to indulge during the holiday created for chocolate lovers.
The sale is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. It will feature baked goods including freshly made cookies, brownies and breads and an assortment of chocolate delights.
Amanda Franco, Program Coordinator/Librarian at Neptune Library, is spearheading the sale and will have some members of the Friends of the Neptune Library on hand to assist her.
“This is our second Valentine’s Day Bake Sale and we have had our Christmas Bake Sale three times,” she said. “People love these sales so much not only because the baked goods are so delicious but because their money is going to a wonderful cause for their community.”
This year all of the proceeds from the Valentine’s Day Bake Sale will go toward the library’s 2020 Summer Reading Program.
“Every single dollar from the bake sale goes directly to the children’s programming and advocating for literacy. Our bake sales are always much anticipated each year and we love that our patrons are so excited when we announce them,” she said.
According to Franco, the holiday sale will have cookies, various type of breads, gluten-free and vegan-baked options and a variety of baked goods. Prices will range from $1.00 to $7.00. Some of the library staff members as well as library family members and friends will be baking for the sale with Franco putting the entire event together.
“I really enjoy doing the bake sale because I love raising money for a good cause. I want to make sure our 2020 summer reading program is amazing for the kids. The money we get from this sale will definitely be a big help,” she said.
Franco added that the library’s bake sales are one of their biggest fundraisers.
“We like the money we raise to go to our children’s programming because the children are the future of our community. We want the kids to love coming to the their local library to do crafts and check out books. It is what makes it all worth it!” she said.
Franco encourages all to attend the Neptune Library’s Valentine’s Day Bake Sale and support their local library.
“We have heard nothing but good things about all of our bake sale items. You can come support the library by buying something sweet for someone you love or just treat yourself. Either way, your support for the library and children’s programming is much appreciated,” she said.
