Deal Police arrested an Oakhurst man following reports of someone breaking into vehicles.
On Feb. 8 at about 11:30 a.m. the police department received a report of an individual breaking into vehicles on Roosevelt Avenue.
When they arrived on the scene a witness gave Police Officer Christopher Mirrione a detailed description of the accused and the vehicle he was operating.
Over the next several days Mirrione and Detective Daniel Liptak conducted a follow up investigation and were successful in identifying the accused with the assistance of Ocean Township Police Criminal Investigation Bureau.
On Feb. 13 Edward Byham, 29, was arrested and transported to Deal Police Headquarters for processing and charging.
Bynam was charged with one count of burglary.
In accordance with bail reform guidelines, Bynam was committed to Monmouth County Jail pending a court date.
The Deal Police Department reminds the public to always lock their vehicles when not in use and report suspicious activity to the police without delay.
