Governor Murphy’s Stay at Home Executive Order is still in effect and we urge you to continue to practice safe social distancing by staying at least 6 feet away from others. Residents may still leave their homes for essential needs – to head to the grocery store, seek medical care, visit close family, report to work, or go outside for exercise.

Governor Murphy is now requiring you wear a face covering when visiting essential retailers to slow the spread of COVID-19. Wearing a face covering could help keep you from infecting others—early research shows that individuals who are infected, but haven’t yet displayed symptoms, can still spread the virus. For more information on face coverings, visit www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover.html.

To help stop the spread of germs: wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue then throw the tissue in the trash; and clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

If you have symptoms, call your doctor and stay at home except to get medical care. If you have an emergency that requires calling 9-1-1, we ask that you let the call-taker know if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms—our first responders’ safety is even more valuable in this crisis.

If you haven’t already, please take a moment now to sign up to receive emergency updates from the City by texting 07712 to 888-777 or go to www.nixle.com to sign up and manage your account.

We suggest you keep up-to-date on the latest information on COVID-19 through the State of NJ COVID-19 information hub at www.covid19.nj.gov, the NJ Dept of Health’s website atwww.nj211.org, or by texting NJCOVID to 898-211 for automated text alerts and notifications. You can also call 211 for general information and basic needs, or 24 hours a day/7 days a week you can speak to a healthcare professional by calling 1-800-962-1253 or 1-800-222-1222.

City Council will continue to make decisions to safeguard our community, and we are committed to providing our residents with the latest updates on how COVID-19 is affecting our community as quickly as possible.

Tocontact City Hall, call 732-775-2100 or visit www.cityofasburypark.com/reportaconcern. For the City’s COVID-19 updates, visit www.cityofasburypark.com. And in case of emergency, dial 9-1-1.

Please take care of yourselves, your families and our neighbors.

Sincerely,
Asbury Park Mayor & Council
John, Amy, Eileen, Yvonne & Jesse
