A Neptune man was arrested Sept. 12 after customers at Stop and Shop supermarket reported a man was grabbing women inside the store.
Police said at approximately 2:09 p.m, patrols were dispatched to the supermarket at 116 Third Ave., Neptune City, for a report of a disorderly subject.
Upon patrols arrival, the subject who was later identified as Thomas Hunter, 30, of Neptune was located outside the store. A Stop and Shop employee reported that Hunter approached her, grabbed her by the arm, told her that he loves women and started masturbating.
The victim attempted to walk away, however Hunter pushed her against a pallet of water. Hunter eventually let go of the victim when she told him the police were on their way. Hunter proceeded to sit on the floor where he continued masturbating in the presence of young children. Prior to exiting the store, Hunter approached another female at the self-checkout register. He approached the female from behind and started rubbing his groin area against the female’s buttocks.
As officers attempted to place Hunter under arrest, he resisted arrest by trying to run away. After a struggle with Hunter he was taken into custody.
Hunter was charged with criminal sexual contact, false imprisonment, simple assault, resisting arrest, and obstruction. He was later transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute.
The arresting officers were: Sergeant Mark Mazzeo, Patrolman Christopher Devlin, and Patrolman Matthew Edwards.
