Neptune officials were unable to review their current noise ordinance for possible revisions at last week’s Township Committee meeting but the mayor said that it will be discussed at the upcoming Oct. 26 meeting.

“We want to take the time to make sure the ordinance is updated fairly and is more definitive in what it contains,” Mayor Robert Lane Jr. said earlier this week.

He said the language, restrictions, and possible fines in the ordinance will all be under review.

The review of the noise ordinance comes in the wake of complaints filed over several restaurants offering outdoor music. The township allowed outdoor music at a few restaurants to help improve their business during the Covid-19 lockdown which restricts indoor gatherings..

“We continue to look into complaints and respond to them accordingly,” Township Business Administrator Vito Gadaleta said last week.

Gadaleta and Township Attorney Gene Anthony are conducting a review of the noise ordinance.

Lane recently allowed Delvetto’s Pizzeria and Pub on Route 33 to continue having outdoor music after he overturned a decision by Gadaleta to halt music after the township continued to receive complaints.

Lane said there have also been noise complaints filed against Il Posto restaurant, 1129 Fifth Avenue, and Sunsets River Front restaurant, 302 S. Concourse, by the Shark River.

“We are trying to work things out with each establishment on a case-by-case basis. We will get the ordinance updated,” he said at the time.
