The past weekend provided a nice recovery for the dismal Memorial Day weekend beach report, said at least one shore official.
Asbury Park Beach Utility Manager Gary Giberson characterized the weekend beach report as “sensational.”
With temperatures in the 90s and full sun, people flocked to city beaches bringing in a weekend total of $164,987.
Giberson said it was among the top five weekend totals going back to 2018. Sunday was the better day of the weekend with a total of $97,180 in beach revenue.
“The boardwalk was packed….we are off to a great start after a lackluster Memorial Day weekend,” he said. Moreover, Giberson said there were no incidents either on the beachfront or in the water.
“The crowd was well behaved and there were no heat-related issues,” he said. “Everybody had a good time.” Even though temperatures inland topped well over 90, Giberson said southeast breezes kept the beachfront comfortable.
“The breezes kept the heat at bay,” he said.
