A Wall Township man was arrested on Aug. 11 in Asbury Park and charged in connection with numerous car burglaries in Ocean Township.
Ocean Township police said they responded to numerous motor vehicle burglaries in the Wanamassa section of the t at 2:22 p.m. Detectives Steven Walker and Chris Clune processed the vehicles at the time. Surveillance footage of the suspect was obtained from several residents throughout Wanamassa.
During their investigation police were able to identify the burglar as Justin Longstreet, 30, of Wall Township. The detectives responded to several locations in Asbury Park where Longstreet was known to frequent and he was subsequently located on Lake Avenue.
Police said he was placed under arrest and found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Longstreet was charged with several counts of burglary and theft. He was also charged with possession of heroin, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of drug paraphernalia, and contempt of court. Longstreet was transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institute pending an initial court appearance.
The burglary investigation is still ongoing. Anyone who was a victim of motor vehicle burglary during the overnight hours of Aug. 10 and 11 and lives in the Wanamassa section of the township should contact Detective Steven Walker at 732-531-1428 ext. 2232.
