Asbury Park students and member of the Student Advisory Committee model uniforms for the 2022-2023 school year.
After careful consideration, the Asbury Park school officials said all students will be required to wear uniforms for the 2022-2023 school year.
This mean beginning Sept. 8, the first day of school for students, all students must wear uniforms based on the color scheme for their school. The uniform color combinations were selected by members of the Student Advisory Committee, a group of youth from each school who were selected to represent their peers in monthly conversations with Superintendent Dr. RaShawn M. Adams.
Students in grades pre-kindergarten through third who attend Bradley or Thurgood Marshall Elementary schools will be required to wear columbia blue tops with navy bottoms. Students in fourth through sixth grade who attend the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Upper Elementary school will wear black tops with khaki bottoms. Seventh and eighth graders who attend the middle school at Asbury Park High School will wear white tops with khaki bottoms, and students in grades nine through 12 will wear Columbia blue tops with khaki bottoms.
The Asbury Park School District will provide financial assistance for families who need help in purchasing uniforms. For more information, visit the district website at www.asburypark.k12.nj.us.
Additionally, Asbury Park High School will move to a single start time for all students. Students will attend classes from 7:47 a.m. until 2:17 p.m.
